About The Press

We are home to some of Australia's finest new and established poets: twenty seven single-author titles and one anthology have appeared since August 2006 to considerable acclaim. We publish only what we believe to be of outstanding quality. The books are beautiful to look at and to open. They radically vary in poetic styles but all beguile into reading at a speaking pace, and to returning.

Jacinta Le Plastrier is the publisher at JLP. Conor Hutchison is associate publisher.

John Leonard is commissioning editor. He taught at Monash and James Cook universities, and is the well-known anthologist of Seven Centuries of Poetry in English (OUP). He has also edited 5 landmark Australian anthologies, including the recent full survey, The Puncher & Wattmann Anthology of Australian Poetry, 2009, and Young Poets: An Australian Anthology, 2011.

About The Poets

Petra White, Elizabeth Campbell, LK Holt and Graeme Miles have a reputation as among the front-rank of a new generation. Claire Gaskin, Paul Magee, Morgan Yasbincek, David Musgrave and Dan Disney - also fresh in the scene, into their forties - are receiving very strong notice.

Longer-established poets, Julian Croft, Jordie Albiston, John Jenkins, Catherine Bateson, Mark O'Connor and Brook Emery have produced distinguished and acclaimed volumes with us.

And there are definitive selected or collected volumes from Aileen Kelly, Jan Owen, Peter Steele, Marcella Polain, Vincent Buckley and Robert Gray.
